CBD for Veterans - Treating Anxiety, Depression, Stress, and PTSD
Posted on July 31 2018
Anxiety, depression and stress, are major factors that play an integral role in being a PTSD Veteran.
Not to mention the constant looming threat of panic attacks, the continuous headaches and migraines, the horrific surround sound nightmares and the knowledge that next to nobody has any clue what you’re going through.
Young adults reach their peak neurological maturity between the ages of 18-25 roughly. During those years, myself and many other veterans suffering from PTSD, were training to fight in war. To see danger around every corner. To always be ready for the unexpected and the next attack. Those of us lucky enough to come home, who were always ready for war, now found ourselves just having to live everyday lives. No I.E.D.’s (improvised explosive devices), no suicide bombers, no snipers, no landmines, no enemy patrols lying in ambush... Just a normal life. You take all of that and mix it in with the things we did see and do, no wonder there are so many of us PTSD Veterans out there.
One of our customers is a military veteran and over the past few years since he has been out of the military, he tried a myriad of methods in combating the demons that plagued him.
He said he tried alcohol, counseling and cannabis. They all have their benefits and he mentioned that the cannabis worked too, although the euphoric high was rather annoying for him. He commented "I don’t like how the THC makes me feel. I felt as though I would never find relief from my PTSD."
After researching on his own, everything led him to Hemp CBD Oil. With less than 0.03 – 0.04% THC, Industrial Hemp CBD Oil showed significant promise. The V. A. website largely discredits medical marijuana when it comes to the topic of PTSD cannabis therapy. Citing “research” saying that veterans will become addicted to the cannabis and that the little research done on PTSD Veterans who use medical marijuana was “inconclusive”. They spent several paragraphs vilifying THC.
That’s not what caught his interest though, the testimonies from PTSD Veterans that were using Hemp CBD Oil to treat themselves and the fact that they found relief from their shell shock was what caught my interest. For the first time in years, he said he felt like there was hope.
Just the ability to function, without the anxiety, without the panic attacks, without the stress. This is what I so longed for, and finally found with the aid of CBD Oil. I no longer am harassed by nightmares. No longer tormented by debilitating migraines.
Now to the success part, he recently told us, "Since I started using CBD Oil, I have been largely symptom free. For the first time in years, I have been nightmare free, I have had only one panic attack in the last two months. Compared to having them every single day, you can imagine my enthusiasm when it comes to singing the praises of what CBD Oil can do."
CBD Oil, made from Industrial Hemp! Containing less than 0.03% THC or THC Free, there is no euphoric "high" associated with it, and it has afforded countless tens of thousands of people to live normal and healthy lives.
According to AnxietySocialnet.com,
“Cannabidiol, or CBD, is the cannabis compound that has found to have significant benefits for treating people with anxiety. CBD-rich cannabis can be treated for patients seeking anti-inflammatory, anti-pain, anti-anxiety and anti-spasm affects. CBD does not make people feel “stoned” or “high,” and can actually counteract the anxiety-driven tendencies of THC. CBD is one 85 natural compounds found in cannabis. It is a major element, making up 40 percent of the plant’s extract and has a wider medical benefit than THC.
It's also the season for depression to set in. Some people are plagued with bouts of depression this time of the year. CBD Oil can help with that too.The other popular compound to treat medical conditions is tetrahydrocannibinol, or THC, and can be used to relax muscles, reduce inflammation, reduce seizures stimulate appetite, lower blood pressure and is an anti-depressant.” (Read More)
The NIMH estimates that in the United States, 16 million adults had at least one major depressive episode in 2012.
That's 6.9 percent of the population. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), 350 million people worldwide suffer from depression. It is a leading cause of disability and affects more than 16.1 million American adults, or about 6.7%of the U.S. population age 18 and older in each year. While major depressive disorder can develop at any age, the median age at onset is 32.5 years old according to ADAA.org.
Treatment is severely limited when it comes to pharmaceuticals to combat depression, and even then, only about 1 in 3 people see benefits from the medications after reaching a therapeutic level which can take weeks if not longer. Medical Marijuana has recently become a front runner in alternative medicine to treat depression, loosely attributed to the euphoric high of the THC and its mood-altering abilities.
Recent studies however, show that the Cannabidiol (CBD) attributes of cannabis have similar anti-depression effects as the THC element.
CBD is a completely non-psychoactive cannabinoid that works to counteract the effects of THC and other psychoactive compounds. CBD has been researched more and more in recent years and is being considered somewhat of a miracle compound due to its amazing success rate when it comes to treating epileptic seizure conditions of all sorts. Now it appears that CBD is also an extremely effective antidepressant according to MarijuanaTimes.org.
CBD Oil works almost instantaneously once taken, within an hour. A potent anti-depressant, CBD Oil could very well replace most conventional therapies when it comes to treating depression.
“Unfortunately, due to the schedule I status of cannabis it has been difficult to do studies on the subject of CBD and depression until recently. However, this could soon change if congress were to pass the CARERS Act, which would successfully remove cannabidiol from the controlled substances act all together, while also rescheduling cannabis from Schedule I to Schedule II – which is something scientists, doctors, and advocates of reform have been hoping to see for years now.
The fact that CBD could be used as an effective treatment for depression – and that it could start helping patients feel better within an hour of starting treatment – is simply incredible in and of itself. There are millions of people suffering from depression in the United States alone – antidepressants can be dangerous, addictive and expensive for life-long treatment; but CBD oil would be a safe and almost instantaneously effective.” (Read More)
